The Origin/EuroTrash
Spring/Summer, 1999: Mike and Ryan have their first jam session. Instant magic.
Summer, 1999: Mike and Ryan write songs and jam consistently.
Fall, 1999: Abel sits in on drums a few times, and is eventually is added to the band.
Winter, 1999: Mike, Ryan, and Abel agree on a band name, “EuroTrash.”
NYE, 1999/2000: EuroTrash (with Tim) play their first “show” at Ryan’s house.
Jan, 2000: The name “EuroTrash” is dumped as searches show it is already used.
Falling Tower
Winter/Spring, 2000: Band is officially named “Falling Tower.” It was in the cards.
March/April, 2000: Falling Tower records its first album, “Six Songs That Suck.”
May, 2000: Peter joins the band on bass
May, 2000: Falling Tower, now a full band, begins shopping the album for a show
June 1st, 2000: Falling Tower plays its first show at the cactus club – a big success
Summer, 2000: Many more shows, many more songs, growing fan base
August, 2000: Falling Tower records its second album, “Slow Children at Play,” in SF.
September, 2000: Abel leaves the band
October, 2000: Falling Tower auditions new potential drummers
October 31st, 2000: Falling Tower produces & headlines a 5-band Halloween show.
October 31st, 2000: That show at Cactus Club would be the last show for the band.
Nov, 2000: While auditioning replacement drummers, Peter leaves the band
Nov/Dec, 2000: Falling Tower breaks up.
note: Falling Tower was a full 4-piece band for about 4.5 months.
Moving On
2001-2003: Ryan plays with other musicians/bands in the Bay Area.
2001-2003: Mike focuses on school/career in the Bay Area.
2003: Mike and Ryan reunite to immortalize old songs that were never recorded.
2003: Mike and Ryan record songs from 1999, as well as newer songs.
2003: The epic 17-track, 12-song acoustic album, “Roots,” is completed.
2003: Mike and Ryan film Bill practicing his stand-up at Ryan’s house.
Los Angeles
May, 2004: Ryan moves to Venice, CA, to pursue a career in music.
2004-2005: Ryan works with musicians in Los Angeles, CA.
2004-2005: Mike does stand-up comedy in San Jose, CA.
February, 2005: Their pal, Darth, moves in with Ryan to pursue an acting career.
July 15th, 2005: Darth and Ryan move to a house in North Hollywood, CA.
July 15th, 2005: Ryan converts the extra room into a full band room.
July, 2005: This house is dubbed “USS Falling Tower”.
February, 2006: Ryan starts taking music classes at LAVC.
February, 2006: Ryan is dragged into his first theatre acting class at LAVC.
A Band Reborn
February, 2006: Mike moves to LA and stays with Ryan and Darth in Noho.
Spring, 2006: Mike and Ryan begin to dabble with guitars and jamming again.
Spring, 2006: Reunited, Falling Tower writes new songs. Many are never recorded
June, 2006: Mike gets his own apartment, around the corner in North Hollywood.
June 29th, 2006: Falling Tower plays their first acoustic show at Amsterdam Café.
July, 2006 to 2008: Falling Tower plays acoustic shows, adds comedy to their sets.
2006-2007: Falling Tower records songs for their fourth album, “The Final Stage.”
Thriving in North Hollywood
Sept 28th, 2006: Mike and Ryan create the Falling Tower YouTube channel.
Sept 28th, 2006: They upload the video of Bill doing stand-up at Ryan’s in 2003.
2007: Mike, Ryan, and Darth begin attending “Wizzard’s Acting Workshop.”
2007: Mike and Darth do stand up comedy.
2007: Ryan begins his career as a professional actor.
Feb 7th, 2007: Falling Tower plays at Hollywood’s legendary Rainbow Bar and Grill.
Feb 11th, 2007: FT uploads a video of them playing “Sexy Back” at Rainbow to YT.
Mar 17th, 2007: Falling Tower organizes and plays a St. Patrick’s day show at The Port in Valley Village, CA.
Summer, 2007: Mike shoots a comedy video, “Remote Control” with Darth and Ryan.
Summer, 2007: The first FT sketch comedy, “Remote Control,” is uploaded to YT.
Summer, 2007: Mike shoots the video “World of Warcraft,” with Ryan and Darth.
August, 2007: Mike, Ryan, & Darth go to their first Star Trek convention since 1996.
August, 2007: With the help of Frank, they shoot the rest of “WoW” in Las Vegas.
Sept. 6th, 2007: The second sketch comedy, “World of Warcraft,” is uploaded to YT.
October, 2007: Ryan shoots FT’s first music video, “Sleep Like a Pig,” with Mike.
October 13th, 2007: Falling Tower’s first music video is uploaded to the FT channel.
Nov, 2007: Ryan shoots the comedic short film, “The Contest,” with Mike and Darth.
Nov 14th, 2007: FT uploads their first comedic short film to their YouTube channel.
Feb 6th, 2008: Ryan creates a secondary YouTube channel, The Incredible Husk.
2008: Falling Tower shoots several comedic shorts, including “The Contest 2.”
2008: Falling Tower records their final album, a short 3-song EP, “Noho Songs.”
2008: Falling Tower uploads a music video for their song, “Mishy.”
Oct. 11th, 2008: FT uploads a music video for their song, “Star Trek For Cool Guys.”
2008: Ryan’s laptop dies and loses many newly recorded FT songs, like “Alum Rock.”
Falling Tower Headquarters
Feb, 2009: Ryan and Mike move to a house in Van Nuys and create a band room.
Feb, 2009: Bill moves to LA to live with Mike and Ryan in the new house.
Feb, 2009: This house is the new Falling Tower Headquarters.
2009: Mike takes playwriting classes, and gets his play produced.
2009: Ryan continues taking acting classes, furthers his acting career.
July, 2009: Bill stars in Mike’s sketch comedy, “Introducing… Bill.”
July 10th, 2009: Bill makes his triumphant return to FT’s YouTube channel.
Nov, 23, 2009: Ryan and his girlfriend, Lea, create a YT channel called inprovence.
2010: Several videos are deleted from the FT YouTube for third party music use.
2010: The Falling Tower YouTube channel loses a third of its videos.
2010: Falling Tower, as a band, stops playing music.
Show Business
2010: Falling Tower is now a production company and social media presence.
2010: Falling Tower expands as a company with more members.
2010: Additional team now members include Darth, Becky, Lea, Stan, Frank, and Bill.
2010: Mike and Ryan both take a playwriting classes and get their plays produced.
2010: Mike and Darth shoot and upload three comedic fake trailers to the channel. 2010-2013: Mike and Darth continue to write together and study filmmaking.
2010-2013: Ryan and Lea upload over 100 videos to their channel, inprovence.
2010-2013: Ryan uploads over 30 videos to his channel, The Incredible Husk.
2010-2013: The three YouTube channels and Lea’s own channel all cross-promote.
Spring, 2011: Bill, a star of several FT and inprovence videos, moves to Boston.
August, 2011: FT’s “STFCG” wins the music video contest at Star Trek Las Vegas.
Winter, 2011: Stan moves to Los Angeles, into Falling Tower Headquarters.
Exodus
2012: Becky is no longer with the company.
2013: Lea, Ryan’s Inprovence channel co-star, is no longer with the company.
2013: Inprovence is put on hold.
2013: Stan, the star of many Inprovence episodes, moves away.
2013: Falling Tower is back to Ryan and Mike, with Darth.
Expanding Horizons
Oct, 2013: Ryan works his first production job on a volunteer basis.
Feb, 2014: Mike moves out of Falling Tower Headquarters.
Spring, 2014: Ryan becomes an associate producer of an independent sci-fi film.
June, 2014: Ryan makes music videos out of two old favorites, “DMT” and “Wasted.”
June 27th, 2014: The music videos are presented to Mike as a birthday gift.
Spring, 2015: Mike writes several comedic shorts to be shot in the summer.
Summer, 2015: Mike shoots several comedic shorts with Ryan and Darth for FT YT.
Summer, 2015: Ryan shoots two sketch comedies with Mike and others.
Summer, 2015: The sound is bad on the sketch videos from a very windy day in LA.
Aug, 2015-Feb, 2016: Falling Tower uploads the comedic shorts to their channel.
The Next Phase
2016-2017: Ryan continues to work as an actor and producer.
2016-2017: Mike continues to study writing.
Aug. 4th, 2017: Mike and his wife, Angie, move to Portland, OR.
Revival
May, 2018: The Falling Tower YouTube channel surpasses one million views.
Sept. 16th, 2018: Falling Tower YouTube channel surpasses 100,000 subscribers.
Sept. 16th, 2018: Falling Tower is now an official YouTube Silver Level Creator.
Sept. 21st, 2018: Falling Tower YouTube channel surpasses 30 million views.
